Featured snippet
A highlighted answer extracted from one page and shown at the top of Google's results, with a link to the source.
Featured snippets quote a paragraph, list or table from a ranking page that answers the query directly. Google chooses them automatically; there is no markup that guarantees one, though a clear, concise answer near a matching heading helps.
Sites can opt out with the nosnippet or max-snippet directives. Where AI Overviews appear, they often take the space a featured snippet used to.
