Was it a Google update?

Enter the date your traffic or rankings changed — or the two ends of a Search Console comparison — and see exactly which confirmed Google updates were rolling out, which day of the rollout it was, and what the industry was reporting at the time. Built from Google's own Search Status Dashboard timestamps.

Check a date

Dates are UTC, which is how Google reports them. Records run from 2011; exact clock times are available from mid-2025, when this site began archiving Google's status feed.

Before blaming Google

  1. Check the measurement first. A tracking tag removed in a deploy, a consent-banner change or a GA4 filter produces a "drop" that Search Console will not show.
  2. Compare with Search Console. If clicks fell but impressions held, look at titles, rich results and SERP features before rankings.
  3. Rule out your own changes. Migrations, robots.txt edits, noindex tags, canonical changes and internal-link rewrites cause most sudden losses.
  4. Look at seasonality. Compare year on year, not week on week.
  5. Then the update. If one was rolling out, compare which pages and queries moved with the pattern the industry is reporting — and give it until the rollout finishes before acting.
